   <title>BfS wants a seismic exploration of the Asse</title>

   <description>Next year, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) intends to conduct seismic measurements in the area of the Asse II mine. With the help of 3-D seismic measurements, a more detailed knowledge of the mine shall be gained. The measurements will take around three months; results should be available in 2013 at the latest. Preliminary work is currently carried out by Gesellschaft f&#252;r Geowissenschaftliche Dienste from Leipzig (GGD). In a public information meeting held on 3 June in the Remlingen village community centre, citizens had the opportunity to get extensive information about the project.</description>

More than 100 citizens took part in the BfS public briefing that took place at the Remlingen community centre on 27 April 2010. Michael Hoffmann and Matthias Ranft (BfS), Jens K&#246;hler and Harald Hegemann (Asse-GmbH) answered questions relating to the emergency planning components.</description>

   <description>On Sunday, 21 February 2010, the Asse information centre (Info Asse) will be open between 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. This is on the occasion of the launch event to the ecumenical way of the cross the Hildesheim diocese is going to perform in cooperation with local Evangelic and Catholic parishes. All citizens are welcome to catch up on the Asse II mine in informal talks at the event.</description>

In his welcoming speech, BfS President Wolfram K&#246;nig made clear that the expert reports had shown that all options were feasible, both technically and under the aspect of radiation protection.</description>
